The transition to the consumption – and emission test WLTP in August, a peak is caused in the number of new passenger cars number plate is set. Renault enters the lists, with the Clio and Captur, the most registered models.

We could say: in comparison with the same month last year, the car sales in August 2018 rose by 42.1 percent. However, there is more to the story. The transition of consumption and emission test NEDC to WLTP has a large part of the 330.471 registered regular cars.

Until september 1, were importers and dealers, a so-called ‘remnant inventory’ build cars that, prior to June 1, produced were. It may still be a year to be sold at the ‘old’ prices. Cars built after June 1, but still in accordance with NEDC-criteria tested, had, before 1 september number plate. There are so many cars registered but not yet sold. These stocks can skew the sales figures.

The sales around 2018, which is now +14,9 percent, is therefore expected to be later this year to fall back on. The associations that the figures keep – Bovag, Rai Association and RDC expect that this year, 430,000 new cars to be dropped off.

We take the August figures, literally, Renault as a brand with the most ‘sell’ out of the bus, next to the Clio and the Captur also many instances of the Twingo and Mégane, to register. Volkswagen owes its top 5 ranking to the two well-performing models Up! and Polo.
